Troubleshooting
An Office conversion shows an install panel
That's the one-time document engine download. See section 14. It only affects Office and OpenDocument formats; HTML and EPUB convert immediately.
The document engine install failed
The panel shows the error and offers Retry. Check your connection and that you have around half a gigabyte free, then retry.
A PDF converted to text came out empty
Text, Markdown, and HTML come from the PDF's text layer. A scanned document is a picture of text and has none. Convert it to PNG or JPG instead.
A HEIC image won't convert
Install the Windows HEIF Image Extension from the Microsoft Store. Windows needs it to decode HEIC files.
Split or Crop refuses to run
Both read the original PDF, so they won't run while page edits are pending. Choose Apply changes or Reset in PDF Organizer first.
A locked PDF won't open
Unlock in PDF Tools removes owner restrictions, not an open password. If the file needs a password to open, you need that password.
A watch folder isn't converting
Check the rule's On checkbox, and check you haven't used Pause all in the Watch Folders header or the tray menu. Paused rules queue matching files and run them when you resume.
The utilities are disabled
You'll see Bandwidth sharing is off. Click Turn sharing on in Settings, or use the tray menu. See section 17.
Jobs seem stuck or slow
Jobs run up to the Job concurrency limit in Settings ▸ General; the rest wait. Raise it to run more in parallel, or lower it if your machine is under strain.
The window disappeared
Closing the window only hides it to the tray. Click the tray icon near the clock to bring it back — the app is still running.
