The interface

By the end of this page you will know where every screen lives and why closing the window doesn't stop your conversions.

The sidebar (left)

• Utilities — one button per enabled utility. Utilities you switch off in Settings disappear from this list. With none enabled you'll see "No utilities enabled. Turn some on in Settings."
• System — four fixed entries:
  • Watch Folders — rules that convert matching files automatically.
  • Job Queue — every conversion in progress or recently finished.
  • Settings — all preferences and per-utility defaults.
  • Help — opens this manual on the web in your browser.
• Footer — the installed version and platform (shown as v<version> · win32), a subtle update indicator while an update is downloading or ready, and a small exchange status pill.

The header (top)

An icon and the name of the screen you're on. Some panels add their own buttons on the right.

The main area (centre)

The active utility's controls, Watch Folders, the Job Queue, or Settings. Document-heavy panels widen with the window; forms stay in a readable column.

Window sizing

The window opens at 900 × 640 and remembers the size and position you leave it at. It won't go narrower than 880 pixels.

The system tray

Left-click the tray icon to open or focus the window. Right-click for a menu:

• Open BizTray — show the window.
• Share idle bandwidth — a checkbox, with a line underneath naming the consequence: Utilities available, or Utilities disabled while sharing is off. See section 17.
• Pause all watch folders — a checkbox that stops every watcher at once. The state persists across restarts.
• Settings… — open the window.
• Check for updates… — open the window and check for a newer version now.
• Quit BizTray — fully exit the app.

You can also drag a file onto the tray icon: Office documents route to Office to PDF, and images route to Image to PDF, queuing the job and opening the window so you can see it.

Closing vs. quitting

• Closing the window (the ✕ button) does not quit the app. It hides the window to the tray; jobs keep running and watch folders keep watching. Click the tray icon to bring it back.
• Quitting (tray menu → Quit BizTray) fully exits. You'll be asked to confirm, with Quit and Cancel. While closed, BizTray can't watch folders or keep itself up to date.
