Getting started

By the end of this page BizTray will be installed, running in your tray, and ready for its first conversion.

System requirements

• Windows 10 or 11 (64-bit). BizTray is Windows-only.
• Free disk space for your output, plus about half a gigabyte if you convert Office documents — those use a document engine that downloads once, on demand. See section 14.
• An internet connection for updates and that one-time engine download. The conversions themselves are entirely offline.

Installing

1. Run the BizTray installer.
2. Read and accept the licence agreement in the installer. That is the only place you are asked to agree; there is no second welcome screen inside the app.
3. When installation finishes, BizTray launches and adds an icon to your system tray (the row of small icons near the clock).

Your first conversion

Pick a utility from the sidebar, drop a file on it, and choose your output. The work runs as a background job — see section 3. Results land in a per-utility subfolder of your output folder (section 4).

Uninstalling

Remove BizTray the way you remove any other Windows program. That path is the complete and clean one — there is nothing else to run afterwards.

1. Open Settings ▸ Apps ▸ Installed apps (Windows 11) or Settings ▸ Apps ▸ Apps & features (Windows 10). Searching the Start menu for Add or remove programs opens the same page.
2. Find BizTray in the list — type "biztray" into the search box at the top to jump straight to it.
3. Click the ⋯ button next to it, choose Uninstall, and confirm.

That single step removes the app, its shortcuts and its Start Menu entry — and it also removes the Massive bandwidth-sharing agent that came with it, so your participation in the bandwidth exchange ends there and then. Nothing is left sharing in the background.

Your own files are never touched: every document you converted, signed or organised stays exactly where you saved it. One folder is left behind on purpose — BizTray's per-user folder under %APPDATA%, which holds your settings, your job history and the document engine if you ever downloaded it (section 14). It is kept so that reinstalling picks up where you left off. Delete that folder by hand if you want the disk completely clear.

What usually goes wrong

If an Office conversion shows an Install LibreOffice (document engine) panel instead of the converter, that's the one-time engine download. It is expected on a fresh install — section 14 explains it.
