Office to PDF
By the end of this page you'll have a PDF made from a Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OpenDocument, HTML, or EPUB file, without anything leaving your machine.
What it does: converts Office, OpenDocument, HTML, and EPUB files to PDF locally.
How to use it
- Open Office to PDF from the sidebar.
- Drop documents onto the panel, or click to browse. Add several to convert a batch.
- Choose the Output format.
- Optionally tick Open the output folder after converting.
- Start the conversion. Each file becomes a job.
Output: the PDFs subfolder.
The document engine
HTML and EPUB files render through the app's built-in browser engine and convert immediately. Every other format — Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OpenDocument — needs the bundled LibreOffice document engine, which downloads once on demand. The panel shows an Install LibreOffice (document engine) step the first time. See section 14.
What usually goes wrong
- An install panel instead of the converter — that's the one-time engine download; it only appears for formats that need it.
- Fonts look different in the PDF — the engine embeds the fonts it can resolve locally. A font installed only in another application may be substituted.
