PDF Converter

By the end of this page you'll have a PDF turned into text, Markdown, HTML, images, or slides.

What it does: converts a PDF into Text, Markdown, HTML, PNG, JPG, or PPTX (slides as images), locally.

How to use it

  1. Open PDF Converter.
  2. Drop PDFs onto the panel, or click to browse.
  3. Choose the output: Text, Markdown, HTML, PNG, JPG, or PPTX (slides as images).
  4. For image outputs, set the Resolution (DPI) — higher means sharper and larger.
  5. Start the conversion.

Output: the Converted PDFs subfolder.

Default output format and Default image resolution (DPI) are set in Settings ▸ Utilities.

What usually goes wrong

Text formats come from the PDF's text layer. A scanned PDF that is really a picture of text has no text layer, so Text, Markdown, and HTML come out empty or sparse. Convert it to PNG or JPG instead.
