Will the text on the slides be editable?

No. Each slide contains an image of the PDF page, so the text cannot be edited, reflowed or restyled in PowerPoint. Any converter promising fully editable slides from an arbitrary PDF is overstating what the format allows.

Then what is this actually good for?

Presenting a document as slides, annotating over it, reordering pages, and pulling selected pages into an existing deck. If you need editable text, extract the text separately and rebuild the slides around it.

Can I get the text out as well?

Yes. The same tool converts a PDF's text layer to plain text, Markdown or HTML, which you can paste into slides you build yourself.

Should I choose PPT or PPTX?
